Local Art Instructor Gene Flores Displays Original Prints, Drawings

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Local college drawing instructor Gene Flores has an exhibit of original prints on display in the Engineering and Life Sciences building at Washington State University Vancouver campus through Oct. 26.

Flores, who began his drawing career at the University of Texas, moved to La Center, Wash. where he teaches drawing courses for Portland Community College and also runs the North View Gallery.

His latest exhibition is a gathering filled with humorous, insightful and disturbing works that are a play on words and imagery, with mythological creatures and a combination of human and animal characters. The show uses reoccurring characters and themes from surreal to absurd. 

Entry to campus exhibits is free. WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
 
WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205, or on C-Tran Bus route 19 from the Salmon Creek Park and Ride.
