WSU College of Business and T-Mobile HotSpot Bring Wi-Fi Access Outdoors

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University College of Business and T-Mobile HotSpot, the largest carrier owned, commercial Wi-Fi network in the United States, have partnered to bring wireless access to the WSU Pullman campus. The effort will create the largest outdoor coverage area on campus, offering wireless service to students, faculty, staff, those associated with the university while on campus as well as T-Mobile HotSpot subscribers.

The new Wi-Fi Network created in coordination with T-Mobile HotSpot will include the university’s library corridor, the Glen Terrell Mall, and Library Road. The space is a core area of social activity for the campus, and will allow users to access the Internet while studying in and around the open spaces. The technology department in the College of Business, spearheaded by Director of Technology, Greg Neunherz, and Dave Ostrom, director of Information Technology Services for WSU, teamed with T-Mobile HotSpot engineers to create the network and to coordinate the installation of the necessary hardware.

“The university has had a long-time goal of providing outdoor wireless access to our constituents,” said Ostrom. “And the work with T-Mobile has allowed us to provide this much-needed coverage.”

The WSU College of Business is accredited at the baccalaureate, master, and doctoral levels by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
