Students Elect New ASWSU Government

PULLMAN, Wash. –  Washington State University students elected March 7 (Wednesday) Kasey Webster and Tommy Simmons as president and vice president for the Associated Students of Washington State University.

Webster and Simmons received 47.4 per cent of the votes, a total of 1,497 votes. They mentioned among their campaign issues their interest in increasing interaction between ASWSU and incoming President Elson S. Floyd, recruiting and retaining more minority students and improving Greek life.

Webster, a graduate from Mount Spokane High School, is a senior in political science. He has served on the 35th Senate as a District One Senator, was re-elected to the 36th Senate by the students and nominated Senate President Pro-Tempore by his fellow senators. He is from Spokane.

Simmons, a graduate of Rogers High School, is a junior in communication. He has served as executive member and director of the Student Entertainment Board at WSU and is a member of the Delta Tau Delta. He is from Pullyaup.
