WSU Spokane Celebrates Opening of New Academic Center

SPOKANE, Wash.— The Academic Center, Washington State University Spokane’s newest building, will open its doors in celebration during its grand opening Sept. 25. The public ceremony is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the Academic Center, 600 North Riverpoint Boulevard, Spokane.

The dedication ceremony, featuring WSU Provost Robert Bates, WSU Spokane Chancellor Brian Pitcher, Washington State Senate Majority Leader, Lisa Brown, and Associated Students of WSU Spokane President Carson Schultz, will be followed by a reception and tours of the building. A WSU faculty-student jazz trio will provide musical entertainment during the celebration. Featured musicians are graduate students Adam Donahue and John Gronberg and professor Dave Snider.

Located at the heart of the Riverpoint Campus, the Academic Center houses a number of academic programs and administrative units, as well as the Riverpoint Campus Library. The 106,000 square foot building showcases the 14,660 square foot library, 15 classrooms, two auditoria, a computer lab and 18 academic and administrative units.

On Sept 25, “Light Reading” by Peter Reiquam, the newest piece of campus art, will be dedicated in a separate ceremony at 5 p.m.
