WSU Tri-Cities Exhibition Center Sets “Este Es Mi Hogar/This Is My Home”

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – A presentation of works by artists from across the nation opens March 20 at the WSU Tri-Cities campus’ Exhibition Center. “Este Es Mi Hogar/This Is My Home” is the first international juried exhibition staged at the center, located in the Consolidated Information Center (Libraries Complex) on the north Richland campus.

“We have artists participating from all corners of the U.S., as well as Spain and an artist that used to live in Serbia’” said Douglas Gast, coordinator of the exhibition.

The artists express their view that a home is not simply the physical structure within which one lives. Rather, they interpret it as more than a house, hut, apartment, trailer or simply shelter.

To the artists in this exhibition, a home is a community, an emotional relationship, a foundation and much more.

“Este Es Mi Hogar/This Is My Home” will be on view March 20 to April 7. A public reception will be held on March 20 from 5-6 p.m.

Participating artists include James Craig of Washington, Alex Emmons of New Mexico, Juan Guillermo Escobar of Spain and Zanna Hess of California. Also showing their works are Daniel Kariko of Florida, Brett Karlinsey of Washington, Ryan Sarah Murphy of New York, Tracy Petre of Washington, Beverly Steigerwald of Colorado, Rose Michelle Taverniti of Washington and M. Laine Wyatt of Florida.
