WSU Tri-Cities Exhibition Center Schedules Spring Semester Art Shows

TRI-CITIES, Wash. — A full slate of gallery shows has been announced for the WSU Tri-Cities campus’ Exhibition Center for the spring semester.

Currently showing is a multi-disciplinary exhibit sponsored by the student Digital Technology and Culture Club. It runs through Jan. 27.

Opening Jan. 30 is “Coda Stone: Unstrung and Other Tales,” which features the photography of Idaho artist Coda Stone. Stone said his recent work draws on “the Egyptian myth of Osiris, who is regarded as a man and a phoenix risen. By collecting the scattered and discarded parts, I hope to create a greater whole.”

Melvin the Elk and his amazing antlers are tentatively set to make a return appearance from Feb. 20 to March 10.

Opening March 20 is a show for which Exhibition Center coordinator Doug Gast is seeking works. “Este Es Mi Hogar/This Is My Home” seeks to present works that define home, both from the perspective of new arrivals in our area and others.

A retrospective titled “The State of Art in the Columbia Valley” seeks works from area artists for display April 10-28. Information on exhibiting in either show is available by contacting Gast at dgast@tricity.wsu.edu or (509)372-7185.

From May 1-6, the Exhibition Center will help celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a show by local Latino/a artists.

It will run concurrently with a show of art by WSU Tri-Cities students to end the season. The Exhibition Center is located on the main floor of the Consolidated Information Center (libraries complex) on the north Richland campus.
