PULLMAN, Wash. A slate of activities for students, alumni and fans of all ages is planned this weekend as the Washington State University Cougars ready to take on the Stanford University Cardinal in a Pac-10 football match-up starting at 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 8) at Martin Stadium.
WSU Foundation weekend, which this year celebrates the non-profit scholastic foundation’s 26th anniversary, will feature art exhibits, on-campus open houses, pregame barbecues and other social events, children’s activities and free classes taught by WSU’s award-winning faculty.
Friday’s events include a Roy Lichtenstein Print Retrospective from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WSU Museum of Art and a Foundation Gala beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum.

Saturday’s events also include the return of Cougar Conversations, a series of free lectures given by members of WSU’s world-class faculty. The lectures are scheduled as follows:
10 a.m., CUB 212, “Art for Everyone Roy Lichtenstein and Pop Art,” by Chris Bruce, director, WSU Museum of Art
10 a.m., CUB 232, “Adorning the World: Art of the Marquesas Islands,” by Carol Ivory, professor and chair, Department of Fine Arts
11:15 a.m., CUB 214-216, “News, Nations and War,” by Susan Ross, associate professor, Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, and associate dean, College of Liberal Arts.
11:15 a.m., CUB 220, “Who Said That About WSU: WSU’s Oral History Project,” by John Webb, assistant director, Digital Services/Collections WSU Libraries
Family-oriented entertainment featuring a food fair and the Northwest Dodge Kid’s Carnival will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mooberry Track.
Also on Saturday, the
Game day activities will continue at 11:30 a.m. with a Veterinary Medicine Alumni and Friends Pregame Event in the parking lot in front of teaching hospital and a pregame barbecue in the Fine Arts Plaza followed at noon by a concert by the WSU Cougar Marching Band. A President’s Associates Pregame Reception is also scheduled for noon in the Compton Union Building Ballroom.
Although not scheduled this weekend, WSU’s Feast of the Arts, an extraordinary dining experience featuring a four-course meal, Washington wines, music, and art will be included among football weekend activities on Oct. 14 and again on Nov. 4 and 11.
