PULLMAN, Wash. — Auditions will be held for Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “The Jungle Book” from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 26 at Washington State University’s Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.
Those auditioning should arrive at 3:50 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions.
Among the roles to be cast are Mowgli (the man-cub), his friends Bagheera (the panther), Akela (the leader of the pack), the entire wolf family, Shere Khan (the tiger) with his side-kick Tabaqui (the jackal), Nag and Nagina (the cobras), Darzee (the bird), Hathi (the master elephant) Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (the mongoose), Kaa (the rock-python), Buck (a buck) and of course the monkey-People. Students in grades K-12 are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. Not everyone who auditions is guaranteed a part in the show.
Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT tour actor/directors will conduct rehearsals Sept. 26-30 from 4-6 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. each day.
