WSU ‘Big Ten Seniors’ Announced

PULLMAN, Wash. – Ten Washington State University students were named 2004 “Big Ten Seniors” award winners today (April 16) in a ceremony at the Lewis Alumni Centre. 

Awards are given to a male and female senior in five categories, including academics, athletics, campus involvement, community service, and visual and performing arts.

The winners are Beth Welander and Cameron Chesnut in academics; Mariette Boyce and Hajime Fuchida, athletics; Ericka Morales and Brock Howell, campus involvement; Erika Kroll and Eduardo Moran, community service; and
Sophia Tegart and Ryan Jesperson, visual and performing arts.

The Big Ten Seniors award, a campus tradition from the 1910s to 1980s, was revived this year by the Student Alumni Connection. Recipients were selected by a committee of faculty and staff from nominations collected by SAC. Nominees are recognized by SAC as Outstanding Seniors. 

Award winners receive a medallion and certificate from SAC.
