Master Gardener’s From Across Washington Gather in Tri–Cities Oct. 3-5

TRI-CITIES, Wash. — Several hundred Master Gardeners from throughout Washington State will gather in the Tri–Cities in early October for the annual Advanced Training Conference and workshop sessions.

“There’s an exciting lineup of speakers and presentations,” says Ron Kathren, retired WSU Tri–cities faculty member who is helping coordinate the sessions here. “We’ll have a rose expert, a session on home wine making, one on plants in medicine, a presentation called ‘Beautiful Plant Marriages and the Lazy Gardener,’ and another on the botanical discoveries of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.”

The sessions open Thursday, Oct. 3, and run through Saturday, Oct. 5. Most are scheduled in the CIC Building of the WSU Tri–Cities campus in north Richland.

In addition to seminars and hands-on training, the Conference Store – a fund-raising activity for the Master Gardener’s program – will feature tools, souvenirs and hand-made crafts.

Many of the activities of the conference are open to the public without charge. For additional information, contact Kathren at (509) 375–3316.
