Elton John to give a second WSU show

PULLMAN — Elton John and his band have added a second live appearance in Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum at WSU Pullman for Mom’s Weekend at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008. The concert is part of the 2008 Tour: Rocket Man • Number Ones.

Tickets to the first concert were sold out in two hours on Jan. 25, with many students, faculty, staff and student parents unable to purchase any in time. As a result, there was an outcry from students and their parents — hoping to attend the concert as part of the Mom’s Weekend events.

So, the second show was added primarily for WSU students.

Wristbands distributed Sunday

Random numbered wristbands will be distributed on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum to WSU students to ensure all WSU students have an equal opportunity to purchase tickets at the public on sale.

An allocation of tickets will be set aside for WSU students. The student must be present with their student ID card to receive a wristband. The wristbands will be attached to each student and will be void if removed. Line up will start at 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24.  No camping out will be allowed.

Each WSU student with a wristband will have an opportunity starting 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, to purchase up to four tickets at Beasley Coliseum ticket office together with the public on sale. The tickets will be sold in the numerical random order according to the number on your wristband. For example, the first person in line may not get wristband number one. The wristbands are randomly numbered.  Only one wristband per customer.

“We will not know what the student demand is until after the distribution of wristbands to students is complete,” said Leo Udy, director of Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum. “The number of wristbands handed out will determine the number of tickets available to the general public at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.”

“Washington State University is deeply grateful that Elton John will perform a second show at Beasley Coliseum as part of our annual Mom’s Weekend,” said Leo Udy, director of Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum. “We’ve been overwhelmed with e-mails and phone calls from fans and are honored to host Elton for a second performance,” added Udy.

Elton John and his band, including members Davey Johnstone on guitar, Guy Babylon on keyboards, Bob Birch on bass, John Mahon on percussion and Nigel Olsson on drums will play his greatest hits and more recent songs from his latest release, Rocket Man•Number Ones. Elton John has sold more than 200 million records and continues to add innovative work to his personal repertoire of 29 consecutive Top 40 hits, 35 gold and 25 platinum albums.

Rocket Man•Number Ones, just released in March 2007, debuted in the top 10 and features newly compiled and digitally mastered greatest hits spanning the first three decades of the singer-songwriter’s career.

Reserved tickets for Elton John will be available at the Beasley Coliseum ticket office and at all TicketsWest outlets including the Kibbie Dome at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and Rosauers in Lewiston, Idaho.  Order tickets online at www.ticketswest.com or charge by phone at 800-325-SEAT. Four ticket limit per customer.

Tickets can be purchased with MasterCard and Visa or cash.  Checks will not be accepted.
