The Center Civic Engagement (CCE) at WSU sponsored a Sustainable, Local, and Organic (SLO) Food Drive to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
They held a “green food drive that was connected to the notion that sustainability is a civil rights issue”, said
Melanie Brown, Director of CCE.
In total, 1207 pounds of quality foods and green products were collected; Dissmores collected 324 pounds, Safeway collected 494 pounds, and WSU campus locations collected 389 pounds.
The SLO Food Drive was implemented to provide healthy food and other green products to families in our communities.
Organizations that helped contribute include Safeway and Dissmores in Pullman, the IGA, Moscow Food Corp, Pullman Child Welfare, Community Action Center, Student Awareness Club, Student Nutrition Activities Club, WSU Residence Life and Campus Markets, and several WSU departments.
