PULLMAN Brenda Wilson-Hale has been named vice president for university development and executive officer of the WSU Foundation.
The appointment was announced Jan. 31 by WSU President Elson S. Floyd.
“Since joining the Foundation, Brenda Wilson-Hale has provided outstanding direction and leadership. I think she is the natural choice to take on the duties of vice president for university development,” Floyd said.
Since March 2007, Wilson-Hale has served as senior vice president of the WSU Foundation. She came to WSU from Michigan State University, where she served as senior director of development. She has also held leadership roles in fundraising positions at DePaul University in Chicago, Morehouse School of Medicine and Spelman College, both in Atlanta.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Wayne State University in Detroit and her law degree from the same institution.
Larry Culver, chair of the WSU Foundation Board of Governors who also chaired the search committee for this position, said, “We are very impressed with her leadership abilities, her ability to work with groups and bring them together. Her expertise in development work will be a great asset for the foundation.”
Wilson-Hale succeeds Len Jessup, who stepped down from the position last May to rejoin the faculty in the College of Business.
