Gregoire makes cheesy bet with Wisconsin gov

OLYMPIA — You may think that Saturday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Greenbay Packers is all about the gridiron — but the big stakes between the opposing state governors is really about cheese and bratwurst.

Gov. Chris Gregoire has made a wager with the governor of Wisconsin that the Seattle Seahawks will prevail against the Green Bay Packers in the NFL playoff game. Gregoire is risking a coveted supply of Cougar Gold cheese against Gov. James Doyle’s Wisconsin bratwurst.

Cougar Gold, produced by Ferdinand’s Creamery at WSU, received a gold medal at the 2006 World Cheese Awards, in addition to several other national awards.

The game will be played at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.

If Seattle wins, Gregoire will share the bratwurst with the Grays Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center for distribution to flood victims in the Montesano community.
