Staff member wins on Jeopardy

Dave Meddish, a print coordinator for the WSU Disability Resource Center, became a two-time Jeopardy Champion on Friday.

Meddish first appeared on Jeopardy Thursday, Nov. 2. He won by wagering more than his opponents on the Final Jeopardy clue and getting it right, which allowed him to compete on Friday.

“Timing on the clicker is everything…and Dave Meddish got into a groove,” according to an online post written by Jim Spilman, a Jeopardy competitor from Thursday’s game.

Meddish said that the first win was the most exciting part of his Jeopardy experience-that and winning a bunch of money.

In Friday’s game, Meddish was able to pull away from the competition before the Final Jeopardy clue, making himself impossible to catch.

“When you make it a run away, that’s when you know you’re in the zone,” Meddish said.

For Meddish, the most challenging aspect of the Jeopardy competition was boning up on information in areas that he was less familiar with.

“I am one of those weirdos that knows a little bit about everything,” he said.

Meddish will compete again tonight on Jeopardy, which airs at 7 p.m. on NBC.
