WSU Jazz Ensemble concert features guest saxophonist

Saxophonist David Hagelganz will be the special guest in a free concert featuring the award-winning Washington State University Jazz Big Band and VOJAZZ vocal jazz ensemble, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. in Kimbrough Concert Hall. 

Hagelganz has performed, toured and recorded with some of the finest musicians in jazz including Ben Wolfe, David Friesen, Mal Waldron and Marvin “Smitty” Smith. He is featured on numerous CDs distributed internationally on the Ark label, and has garnered praise in top jazz publications including Down Beat, Jazz Times and Jazziz magazines.

The concert will include VOJAZZ performances of “When I Fall in Love” and “Chicago”, a Jazz Big Band rendition of “Never Will I Marry”, and feature two new compositions written by graduate students Bryan Werry and David Snyder.

Dave Hagelganz’s appearance is made possible through the ASWSU Student Entertainment Board.
