WSU men’s rowing has been plying the waters of the Snake River since 1971. Part of that tradition is the annual Class Day, which features alumni and class races. More than 35 former rowers and coxswains will briefly relive their college days at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 19, as they compete against current WSU oarsmen.
Students first will compete against each other by class. Once they’re good and tired from racing 2,000 meters, the alumni will strategically step in for a 500-meter sprint against the students.
“We have RSVPs from many strong recent grads,” said Vice Commodore Peter Brevick, a junior in mechanical engineering. “Their stern four could average 250 pounds, and they will be out there for blood.”
Participants will end the day with dinner and an evening of reminiscing about WSU’s proud history of rowing.
