The Washington State University Museum of Art, in collaboration with the fine arts department, will present The Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, April 8-May 8. The exhibit will feature an opening reception beginning at 7 p.m. on April 8.
MFA student candidates will present works from a variety of media including drawing, mixed-media, painting, photography and sculpture. The exhibit will feature works covering a wide range of subject matter, content, and styles.
This year’s group of MFA candidates includes Roxann Burger, drawing; Roark T. Congdon, sculpture; Scott Hagel, painting; Tia-Maria Holler, mixed-media; Jason Lascu, sculpture; Nathan Lunstrum, photography; and Danella Thompson, sculpture.
“The MFA students have spent two years working hard to get to this point, and I think I speak for everyone involved when I say it’s been a long road, but the exhibit clearly illustrates our hard work here at WSU,” said Lascu, a native of Cleveland and a sculptor since 1999.
“The strength of the fine arts department and the MFA program is we don’t have a certain style. Each student is allowed to shine on their own — find their own path,” said Chris Watts, a professor in the fine arts department and this year’s graduate advisor.
