Borealis String Quartet to perform in Pullman

Canada’s Borealis String Quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in Bryan Hall Theater.

The Borealis String Quartet has established itself as an ensemble praised for its dynamic performances, passionate style, and refined musical interpretation.

Featured in numerous CBC broadcasts, the Borealis String Quartet has performed to critical acclaim and sold out concert halls across Canada. In Ottawa, the quartet’s National Arts Centre debut was featured by CBC Radio on “In Performance,” and The Gazette in Montreal chose its debut as a Critic’s Choice event. The quartet achieved further national attention as a finalist in the CBC Great Canadian Music Dream Competition, which was broadcast nationally on CBC Television.

In addition to extensive concertizing, the Borealis filmed a music video for Bravo! Television at the Chan Centre, which debuted at the Vancouver International Film Festival and the quartet’s critically acclaimed CD, titled “Classic Borealis,” was recorded for Skylark Records and was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award.

Formed in Vancouver, BC in the fall of 2000, the Borealis String Quartet is the Quartet-in-Residence at the University of British Columbia, where quartet members give regular master classes and teach chamber music at the School of Music.

The cost to attend is $10; however, WSU students may attend for no fee.
