Management conference registration now open

Copyright law, interpersonal conflict, computer abuse and sexual harassment prevention are among the many topics to be discussed at the upcoming Managing in Cougar Country conference.

This event designed as a proactive effort to “share information about the systems and tools provided by Human Resource Services,” according to HRS director Stevan DeSoer.

The one-day free conference is planned for 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Samuel Smith Center for Undergraduate Education. A complimentary salad and sandwich buffet lunch is included.

Registration for the conference is available online. Go to to the HRS website, www.hrs.wsu.edu, then click on “Managing in Cougar Country” in the news and events box on the right. The complete conference agenda is listed.

Registration also is available by calling the HRS office at 509-335-4521.

DeSoer urged anyone interested to register as soon as possible.

“We have limited space and will be able to allow no more than 240 participants, so I suggest that managers register immediately,” he said.

Managers and supervisors at any level who use WSU business processes on a regular basis would benefit from the comprehensive nature of the conference, DeSoer said. The conference is not designed for academic managers like department chairs.
