Smaller tuition hikes urged by state board

The state’s Higher Education Coordinating Board is proposing that tuition increases at Washington State University and the University of Washington be smaller in the fall of 2007. At the UW and WSU, tuition covered about 33 percent of the cost of each student’s education in 1992. Today, it represents 52 percent.
