PULLMAN – The 14th Annual Education Choral Festival, sponsored by the WSU School of Music and Theatre Arts, will be held on the Pullman campus starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
Thirteen high school choirs from Auburn, Kennewick, Monroe, Olympia, Oroville, Othello, Post Falls and Spokane will perform for clinicians and have the opportunity to work as an individual choir on musicianship, team building and goal setting for the year.
The only choral music festival of its kind in the Northwest, this early fall festival is designed to be educational, non-competitive and motivating for the high school students in a positive and encouraging environment.
The visiting choirs, with over 400 students, will also participate in various workshops throughout the day and have the opportunity to hear the WSU Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and VOJAZZ ensembles.
The festival high school participants will be performing in Kimbrough Concert Hall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.; WSU VOJAZZ, directed by Jennifer Scovell, will be performing at 1 p.m. in Kimbrough 101; and WSU Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers, conducted by Lori Wiest, will be performing at the 5 p.m. concluding concert in Bryan Hall Theatre.
