• Scientist John Stark, WSU Puyallup Research and Extension Center, is one of nine selected from 54 applicants to serve on the science panel of Washington’s Puget Sound Partnership. The panel will provide independent scientific advice to the leadership council, the partnership’s governing body, as it develops a comprehensive plan to restore Puget Sound.
• Lorraine Dietz McConnell, biosafety officer in the Office of Research Assurances, recently passed the National Registry of Microbiologists exam. While there are thousands of members of the American Biological Safety Association, fewer than 350 have completed this exam.
• Pete W. Jacoby Jr., associate dean for outreach in the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS), is one of 23 university faculty and administrators, and executives from private industry, selected as Food Systems Leadership Institute fellows. The training program focuses on personal leadership skills, leadership for organizational change and broadening food system perspectives.
• Kenji Kitatani, professor of media management, has been named adviser to the Japan Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC).
