Pullman – On Tuesday, February 12, 2008, the School of Music at
WSU will present a jazz concert featuring the award-winning WSU jazz ensembles at 8:00 pm in Kimbrough Concert Hall on the WSU Campus.

The concert will be free of charge.
The concert will feature the WSU Jazz Big Band under the direction of
Greg Yasinitsky, and the VOJAZZ vocal jazz ensemble under the direction of Jennifer (Scovell) Parker.

The program will include the premieres of new compositions by graduate Teaching Assistant Derek Gore and Jazz Big Band saxophonist David Miner.
Gore’s piece “Red Sky” is for his wife Echo and will feature trumpeter Brendan McMurphy. Miner’s composition “W.I.T.O.Y.” will feature baritone saxophonist Matt Lanka and guitarist John Sterling.

The program will also include “What Happens in Vegas,” a new composition by director Yasinitsky, “Black Nile” by Wayne Shorter
as arranged by Spokane trombonist Tom Molter, and”Paprika”by Bob Curnow.

Vibist Paxton Gehling, drummer Tiffany Stephens, trombonist Ian Copland and saxophonists David Crow, Chris Siegmund, David Crow and Wes Maples will also be heard as soloists.
