Vocal Chamber Music Concert to benefit children

PULLMAN – WSU piano faculty Jeffrey and Karen Savage will perform during the benefit performance “Sing for Hope” at 3 p.m. March 2 at the Bryan Hall Theater.

Mezzo-soprano Kathleen Flynn, soprano Anne Gross, baritone Randall Scarlata, and tenor Benjamin Sosland will sing chamber music masterpieces by Brahms, Rossini, Purcell, and Massenet. The singers have been praised by the New York Times, The Globe and Mail, and the New Yorker, and have had solo appearances with the Minnesota, Philadelphia, and San Francisco Orchestras, Great Performers at Lincoln Center, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Lyric Opera, Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, Marlboro Festival, and at The Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall.

The event will also include performances by the Pullman High School’s Jazz Choir and Treble Triad, directed by Andrew Mielke.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.singforhope.eventbrite.com and will be available at the door at $8 for students with valid WSU/UI id, $15 for seniors and $18 for general admission. All proceeds will support the mission of Grace and Hope for Children.

Since its inception three years ago, Grace and Hope for Children (www.grace-hope.org), a grassroots organization sponsoring foster care for Chinese orphans, has moved over 1,000 orphaned and abandoned children from institutions into Chinese foster families.
