“Banner Week” recognizes Early Outreach director

RICHLAND —  A special Cougar banner was raised today to salute WSU Tri-Cities employee for her outstanding accomplishments.

Genoveva Morales-Ledesma, director of Early Outreach programs, is the “Banner Week” honoree for Jan. 23 to Jan. 30.

Morales-Ledesma led the successful efforts resulting in two six-year grants form the U.S. Department of Education totaling $23 million. This was one of the largest, if not the largest, awards in the nation, and the grants will support the GEAR UP program that prepares middle school students and their families for college.

Morales-Ledesma leads a staff of 150, which includes a 12-member administrative team on the WSU Tri-Cities campus that supports site directors and tutors based in 23 school districts throughout the Mid Columbia, including Clarkston, College Place, Soap Lake and White Swan.
