Standard setting at the FASB and IFRS convergence

Russell Golden will address the politics and realities of standard setting at the FASB and the transition in the United States to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on Friday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. in Todd 276.

Golden is the technical director for the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Chair of the Emerging Issues Task Force. Russell Golden has been the technical director of the FASB since June 2008.  In this role, he oversees FASB staff work on standards-level projects, including technical application and implementation activities.

Previously, Golden was the director of technical application and implementation activities for the FASB. Appointed to that position in July 2007, Golden managed FASB activities relating to the application and implementation of accounting standards and other board pronouncements.

Prior to joining the FASB as a senior technical advisor in 2004, Golden was a partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP in the Accounting Services Department of the national office. In this role, he was responsible for providing timely and accurate accounting consultations to partners and clients throughout the United States and globally.

Golden earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from WSU. He is a licensed CPA in the states of Washington and Connecticut.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
