New requirements will affect all WSU passengers making airline reservations. All passengers will soon be required to provide additional personal information as part of aviation security enhancements recommended by the 9/11 commission.
The new government data collection program is known as Secure Flight, which shifts the responsibility from the airlines to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for checking passenger names against “watch lists.” Only passengers who are cleared to fly by the TSA will be given boarding passes.
Passengers who decline to provide the required Secure Flight information in advance of their travel plans will face, at a minimum, secondary screening and delays at the airport, and possible denied boarding.
