PULLMAN – Join Chris Hedges, Pullitzer Prize-winning American journalist, author, and veteran war correspondent at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 in the Bundy Reading Room of Avery Hall at WSU for coffee, doughnuts and discussion about what has happened in Iraq over the past six years.
He will also speak in the CUB Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Sept. 24 and at 7 p.m. on Sept. 25 in the Community Congretional United Church of Christ, 525 NE Campus St. In this talk he will focus on topics from his book “When Atheism becomes Religion” (previously published under the title, “I don’t believe in Atheists”). There will be a Q&A session and a book signing as well as refreshments.
Both talks are free, first come first seated.
Hedges specializes in American and Middle Eastern politics and societies. He wrote “Collateral Damage” in 2008, for which he interviewed combat veterans from the war in Iraq. His other works include “Empire of Illusion,” “War is the Force that Gives us Meaning,” “Losing Moses on the Freeway” and “I don’t Believe in Atheists.”
Hedges holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Colgate University and a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School. He was awarded an honorary doctorate, in May 2009 from the Starr King School for the Ministry, in Berkeley, Calif.
