MOUNT VERNON – University graduate student research projects related to agriculture and natural resource conservation now ongoing in northwestern Washington will be showcased at an upcoming symposium in Mount Vernon.
The Agriculture and Northwest Ecosystem Graduate Student Symposium will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the WSU Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center, 16650 State Route 536, in Mount Vernon. Posters displaying a variety of research projects can be viewed beginning at 8:30 a.m., and presentations will begin at 9:30 a.m.
The symposium will afford the students from various disciplines and universities and their faculty advisors the opportunity to engage with community members about agricultural sustainability and resource management strategies. A hosted lunch will allow the participants and visitors time to discuss current and future research projects related to these issues.
The keynote speaker at lunch will be David Dicks, the executive director of the Puget Sound Partnership. The Partnership is the state agency charged with restoring the health of Puget Sound by 2020.
