WSU Coalition for Women Students Receives AAUW National Recognition

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Coalition for Women Students received honorable mention recognition for its programming by the American Association of University Women’s Legal Advocacy Fund.

The WSU program is composed of five student organizations, the WSU YWCA and the WSU Women’s Center. The coalition promotes equity, diversity and safety on campus. It also offers educational and leadership opportunities for women of color and organizes activities that heighten awareness of issues pertaining to women.

The AAUW LAF board of directors also recognized Eastern Oregon University’s President’s Commission on the Status of Women. Winner of the $5,000 Progress in Equity Award was NETWORKS, a program that provides financial and professional assistance for women enrolled at Collin County (Texas) Community College’s engineering and technology programs.

The annual award recognizes a college or university program that has resulted in significant progress toward equity for women on campus.
