PULLMAN, Wash. — Dennis Haarsager, associate vice president and general manager of Educational Telecommunications and Technology for Washington State University, was recently elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of National Public Radio.
Haarsager, who also is manager of WSU’s public television stations, served on the national board of directors of the Public Broadcasting Service from 1997 to 2003. When he assumes his latest board post in November, he will become one of NPR’s 16 national directors.

After serving in the United States Air Force, Haarsager began his broadcasting career as a technician with South Dakota Public Broadcasting in 1969. He served as director of administration with the South Dakota ETV Board and as state coordinator for Idaho Public Broadcasting with the Idaho State Board of Education before coming to WSU in 1978.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in political theory and a master’s degree in public administration from the
