PULLMAN, Wash. — The Thomas J. Foley Institute will host a policy forum on “The 2004 Election: Battlegrounds, Horse Races and Implications for the Future” from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 28) in Room 518 of the Samuel H. Smith Center for Undergraduate Education on the Washington State University campus in Pullman.
The forum will feature three WSU faculty members: Lance LeLoup, the Claudius O. and Mary W. Johnson Distinguished Professor of Political Science; Bruce Pinkleton, a professor in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication; and Travis Ridout, an assistant professor of political science.
LeLoup, an editor of and contributor to the 2004 WSU Press book “Washington State Government and Politics,” will discuss the policy implications of various possible election outcomes.
Pinkleton, whose research has explored the role that campaign advertising, particularly negative advertising, plays in voter attitudes and behaviors, will discuss the role of media and advertising in the campaign’s closing days.
Ridout, whose research has focused on the presidential nominating process, voter learning, political advertising and survey research, will discuss opinion polls and what they might say about the likely election result.
