VANCOUVER, Wash. — Christine Portfors, faculty member at Washington State University Vancouver, will present the third annual “Halloween Bat Talk” at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Student Services Building lecture hall.
Portfors, an assistant professor of biological sciences, will dispel popular folklore while discussing the beneficial role bats play in nature. Attendees will be able to view live bats. For more than eight years, Portfors has studied how a bat’s brain processes sound and its connection to how humans process speech.
The presentation is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Families and children are welcome. For more information, call (360) 546-9434. Parking is available for $1.75 in the blue lot.
