The new mascot, Ms. Waste Wise, will debut this Saturday (Sept. 18) at events held at the Mooberry Track, in tailgate and RV parking lots and at the Field House prior to the WSU-Idaho football game.
Ms. Waste Wise will be handing out recycling baskets to all RV’s to encourage recycling of aluminum, glass, plastic and cardboard in designated areas. She also will be handing out other items to encourage all fans to participate in recycling efforts.
WSU Recycling will continue recycling promotions at all campus athletic events. During this month’s annual All-Campus Picnic, which was attended by more than 5,000 participants, WSU recycled all but 35 pounds of trash.
“With up-front planning and communication, recycling can be made easy,” said Judi Dunn, recycling education coordinator. “Our goal is to have a recycling option wherever there is trash collection.”
The Waste Wise Program emphasizes the necessity of recycling to be a shared responsibility. For more information about recycling visit the program website at www.wsu.edu/recycle or contact Dunn at (509) 335-8094 or by e-mail at judif@wsu.edu.
