WSU Visiting Writer Series Presents Poet Sept. 22

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Department of English will begin its 2004-05 Visiting Writer Series Wednesday, Sept. 22 with poet Dick Bakken. 

The reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the WSU Museum of Art. A book signing and reception will follow. The WSU English department and the museum are co-sponsors of the event.

Bakken, a poet and performer, has had his work published in more than 200 literary journals and anthologies.  He is the author of “Feet with the Jesus” and the newly released “Dick Bakken: Twelve Greatest Hits” (Pudding House Press).  Bakken also bears the distinction of being the first graduate student in the WSU English department allowed to defend a creative thesis.

The next speaker in the Visiting Writer Series will be Michael Martone from the University of Alabama on Oct. 5.
