Locke Appoints WSU Senior Brady Horenstein as Student Regent

PULLMAN, Wash. — Gov. Gary Locke has appointed Washington State University student Brady J. Horenstein as the student member of the WSU Board of Regents.

Horenstein, a 2001 graduate of Skyview High School in Vancouver, is a WSU senior majoring in political science. He is the seventh WSU student regent, succeeding Angela S. Cox of Anchorage, Alaska.

Through various memberships and positions, Horenstein has already been at work to better WSU and its student community. He served last year as director of legislative affairs for the Associated Students of WSU, working in Olympia and coordinating the organization’s lobbying efforts.

Horenstein has served also as an ASWSU senator and worked to improve Pullman Transit funding by helping establish a new student transit fee that a majority of students voted for. He is also a former president of the Washington Student Lobby, a statewide organization that lobbies before the Legislature on behalf of more than 100,000 college students statewide.

“I am extremely honored and excited to serve the university community,” Horenstein said of his appointment as student regent. “I look forward to contributing to the university’s efforts towards funding and accessibility, diversity, academic quality and other critical quality of life issues.”

He is a member of a variety of honors organizations, including the President’s Honor Roll, the National Residence Hall Honorary and Phi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society.

A former Eagle Scout who plans to attend law school next year, Horenstein is the son of Todd and Dru Horenstein of Vancouver.
