Campus Involvement Plans Music on the Mall, Movie June 23

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University will present Music on the Mall and a movie, Wednesday, June 23 as part of Campus Involvement’s summer entertainment.

The Jude Bowerman Band will present music on Glenn Terrell Mall from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 23. The band covers a wide terrain of musical styles, blending the rhythms of old-school funk, blues, hip-hop, house and classic soul. Bowerman captivates audiences with his singing and interactive playing. His live performances are high-energy and uplifting, with non-stop grooves punctuated by a distinctly original tone and guitar playing. Bowerman’s influences and abilities are seemingly endless as is his energy to share and perform. He and his award-winning band have shared the stage with the likes of Johnny Winter, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and George Thorogood.

Also on Wednesday, “Miracle,” a Disney film about the 1980 Olympic Hockey Team, will be shown at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Compton Union Building auditorium. Admission is free. Based on the true story of one of the greatest moments in sports history, the movie tells the story of a hockey team that transcended its sport and united a nation with a new feeling of hope. In 1980, the U.S. Ice Hockey Team coach Herb Brooks took a ragtag squad of college kids up against the legendary juggernaut from the Soviet Union at the Olympic Games. With the world watching, the team rose to the occasion. This film is rated PG.
