Watercolor Exhibit on Display at College of Nursing

SPOKANE, Wash. The Washington State University Intercollegiate College of Nursing is hosting a Dan Sanford Watercolors exhibit featuring 15 original paintings which will be on display through June 30. Free to the public and open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the exhibit is located on the main floor hallway of the College of Nursing building at 2917 W. Fort George Wright Drive.

Sanford is professor emeritus of Whitworth College and former president of the Spokane Watercolor Society. Since retiring in 2000, he has been traveling the world and expanding his collection. His paintings convey contrasting feelings of festivity and serenity and feature scenes from his recent travels to such places as Scotland, Korea, Thailand, New Zealand and Vancouver Island. A number of his works are now in reproduction as giclée works and note cards.

Dorothy Detlor, dean of the Intercollegiate College of Nursing/Washington State University College of Nursing, is a Sanford painting enthusiast. “This exhibit provides a lovely backdrop for upcoming spring campus activities, including receptions, convocation and commencement. Our faculty, staff, students and campus visitors will be able to enjoy the paintings each time they pass through the main hallway of our building.”

Sanford’s works have been invited to juried shows in Spokane, Bellevue and Bellingham, Wash. where he has been awarded top honors. A permanent display of more than 40 of Sanford’s works can be found in offices, public spaces and buildings throughout the Whitworth College campus, located at 300 W. Hawthorne in Spokane.
