Madrigal Singers’ Spring Concert April 17

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Madrigal Singers will present their annual spring concert at 8 p.m. April 17 in the Bryan Hall Auditorium.

The Madrigal Singers vocal ensemble, directed by Lori Wiest, consists of 21 singers dressed in costumes reminiscent of the Renaissance era (1450-1600), performing madrigals and motets of that period as well as contemporary compositions.

The group will also sing Chinese folksongs in Mandarin, composed by Chen Yi, a recent guest during WSU’s New Music Festival in February. Other performances include contemporary madrigals of William Hawley set to poems by 16th century Italian poet Torquato Tasso, a new arrangement of the folksong “Alouette,” a ballad by Swedish composer Nils Lindberg, and Rene Clausen’s “Peace I Leave With You.”
