PULLMAN, Wash. — The Compton Union Gallery at Washington State University is will host the exhibit “Falling Petals: A Glass Installation by Louise Colson” from March 8 through April 2.
The gallery is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. but will be closed March 15-19 for spring break. Admission is free.
As the elements earth and water transform a seed into a flower, then to fruit, Louise Colson uses fire to give life and form to her glass creations. Colson says each petal has fallen from a different flower in the garden and has been whisked into the air by an errant summer wind.
Colson began working with glass in San Diego in 1980 and since 1983, has been working with flower forms. An artist and arts educator, she lives and works in Viola, Idaho.
