Applications Being Accepted for Yates Scholarship

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Intensive American Language Center is accepting application for the Violet M. Yates Scholarship for the Study of English through Nov. 27. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

The scholarship will be awarded in December to a female resident of Whitman, Latah or Nez Perce counties who is a non-native speaker of English. The scholarship must be used toward tuition at the IALC during spring semester 2003 for the study of English as a Second Language.

Applications are available at IALC in McAllister Hall, Room 116, Washington State University, Pullman, WA 99164-3251. Other inquiries can be made by calling (509) 335-6675 or by fax at (509) 335-1141.

The Violet M. Yates Scholarship was established by Yates’ family in celebration of her 80th birthday and her lifelong concern for the education of foreign-born women residing in the area.
