SPOKANE, Wash. — “The Promise of Successful Aging: It Takes a Village,” is the topic of a free public lecture for health professionals and community members to be held Dec. 11. The Robert F.E. Stier Memorial Lecture, produced and coordinated by the Area Health Education Center at Washington State University Spokane, begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, 303 W. North River Drive.
Dr. Christine Cassel, a nationally recognized expert in quality of clinical care, geriatric medicine and medical ethics, will deliver the presentation. She is currently president and chief executive officer of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
The Stier Lecture is scheduled in conjunction with the Quality of Life for Our Elders conference, with the theme “Clinical Care for Successful Aging,” being held Dec. 12 at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park.
The conference is supported by the Area Health Education Center and the Health Policy and Administration program at WSU Spokane, the WSU Spokane Robert F. E. Stier Memorial Lectures in Medicine and the Spokane County Medical Society.
The series features annual presentations from key leaders in medicine who represent the current state of the art and science of medicine, and whose works have increased professional and public understanding of new technologies and challenging issues. The lectures serve the medical profession and the public to increase dialogue and stimulate interaction around innovative ideas and biomedical technologies.
The Stier Memorial Lectures were established by Alton R. Stier, M.D., and Robert A. (Bud) Stier, M.D., in honor of their late father.
