PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University will hold an Aug. 27 panel discussion, one of a number of public events to mark the inauguration of the new building that houses the university’s internationally recognized Institute for Shock Physics.
U.S. Rep. George Nethercutt and WSU Provost Robert Bates will moderate the 2:30 p.m. panel discussion “Role of University Research and Education in National Security,” held in Kimbrough Concert Hall.
Featured panel members include David Crandall, Ph.D., assistant deputy administrator of the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration; Victor Reis, Ph.D., former director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and former assistant secretary of the DOE; Jay Davis, Ph.D., former director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and former associate director at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; and Leonard Peters, Ph.D., director of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
A reception will follow in the foyer at Kimbrough Concert Hall.
