PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Concert Choir will perform its final concert of the semester at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 25, in the Bryan Hall Auditorium.
Under the direction of Lori Wiest, associate professor, the choir will perform a commissioned work, “Sonnets Upon Music,” by Charles Argersinger, professor. The composition will feature a choir and instrumental chamber ensemble of three sonnets by William Shakespeare. An instrumental soliloquy will precede each sonnet, given by one of three soloists representing the voice of one of three muses.
The composition features faculty members including soprano soloist Julie Wieck and a small chamber ensemble of H. James Schoepflin on clarinet, Susan Hess on bassoon, Ann Yasinitsky on flute, Erich Lear on viola, and Jill Schneider on piano and harpsichord.
Other selections at the concert will be “Jing-ga-lye-ya,” by Bruce Sled, “Salve Regina,” by Ramona Luengen, three chansons by Paul Hindemith, an arrangement of “Loch Lomond,” by Jonathon Quick, and “Ain’t That Good News,” by Moses Hogan.
