PULLMAN, Wash. — New compositions by Washington State University music professor Gregory Yasinitsky will be premiered at the Clarkston High School Performing Arts Center during two programs next week.
The new pieces will be performed by ensembles from Clarkston High School under the direction of award-winning music educator Fred Dole. Yasinitsky’s compositions were created as part of a residency funded by The Commission Project of New York, a national organization that places composers in the public schools.
On Tuesday, May 27, the Clarkston High School vocal ensembles will be heard in concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Jazz Choir will premiere Yasinitsky’s “D’lish.”
The Clarkston High School bands will be heard in concert on Thursday, May 29, at 7:30 p.m. The CHS Wind Ensemble will premiere Yasinitsky’s “Whitewater Rush.” Also, the Jazz Band will perform “Hangin’ High on the Flat-Five,” a new piece that was commissioned by a consortium of band directors from the American Band College.
Both programs are open to the public without charge.
