PULLMAN, Wash. — Nearly 30 free programs via Network Event Theater will be offered to Washington State University students in the Compton Union Building Auditorium during the 1998-99 academic year.
NET programs will include movie premieres, live comedy hours, live concerts and interactive events with actors, directors, singers and comedians.
CUB officials say NET events are expected to be held on select Tuesdays and Thursdays. A NET calendar will be announced around the start of classes Aug. 24.
Major motion-picture premieres in the CUB may include “A Night at the Roxbury” from Paramount with Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell; “Water Boy” from Disney with Adam Sandler; “Without Limits” from Warner, produced by Tom Cruise with Billy Crudup and Donald Sutherland; “I Still Know What you Did Last Summer” from Sony with Jenifer Love-Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.; and “Home Fries” from Warner with Drew Barrymore.
In addition to the motion pictures, other programs may include:
* “The Artist Voice,” an interactive evening with some of the music industry’s hottest artists originating from a NET partnership campus. During the “Voice,” audience members can listen to the artist speaking, playing and responding to their questions.
* “Animation Festival” with animation producer Klasky Csupo. This will be a two-hour program of the “newest and hottest animators in this growing field,” say CUB officials.
* “Singles Night,” a listening party with some of the music industry’s hottest music videos. Each participating label will present five of its new artist videos. Students will vote for best band and have a chance to leave with CDs and other premiums, CUB officials say.
* “The Short List,” a series of programs including shorts from new and midcareer filmmakers, including student filmmakers, from around the world. The shorts will include comedies, dramas, animation and documentaries.
