Peterson to Continue as WSU Interim Admissions Director

PULLMAN, Wash.–A national search to find a permanent director of admissions at Washington State University has been suspended, and Wendy Peterson will continue to serve as interim director for the 1998-99 academic year, K.J. “Gus” Kravas, vice provost for student affairs, announced today.
“We are very fortunate to have a person of Wendy Peterson’s experience and ability to assist us with this important transition,” Kravas said. “Even though she has been the interim director for only a few months, her impact has been significant.”
He said that during the next few weeks university officials will determine the guidelines that will drive the search for a new leader in the admissions area.
Peterson has been interim director of admission since last November, following the resignation of Terry Flynn. A 1982 graduate of WSU, Peterson was appointed assistant admissions director for high school relations in 1983. She served as director of admissions and high school relations at Skagit Valley College in 1986-87, then returned to the WSU admissions office. In 1993 she was appointed director of orientation and coordinator of new student programs, a position she held until being selected as interim director.
