PULLMAN, Wash. — A local vocalist and a lecture on the state of cities today are among upcoming events on the Washington State University campus.
Acoustic singer-songwriter Lisa Simpson of Moscow, Idaho, will perform songs from her unreleased second album at noon, June 12, on the Glenn Terrell Mall.
Simpson has become a local favorite through performances throughout the area. She has performed at a number of music festivals including Hemp Fest, the Renaissance Fair, Harvest of Harmony and Chickfest, an all-female benefit for the Coeur d’ Alene women’s center. Simpson’s performance is part of “Noon Concerts on the Mall,” a series of concerts every Wednesday throughout the summer.
Today’s cities are in a serious crisis, contends Ayad Rahmani, an assistant professor in the WSU School of Architecture and Construction Management. He will discuss how the modern city differs from the past, particularly how the evolution of technology has affected architecture and quality of life. His talk — part of the “Nooners in the Basement” Summer Brown Bag Series — is set for noon, June 13, in the Compton Union Building, Room B11.
