VANCOUVER, Wash — Washington State University Vancouver’s Honors Program is sponsoring “Globalization and the Politics of Food and Wine in Europe” on Thursday (March 7) at 6 p.m. in Classroom building, 160A.
Lance T. LeLoup, WSU professor of political science, will talk about the pros and cons of globalization and how Europeans have reacted to globalization’s threat to traditional culture. From the French Roquefort maker who bulldozed a McDonald’s in protest, to the European Union’s mountains of surplus butter and lakes of surplus wine, to fears of mad cow disease, the politics of food and wine are becoming increasingly important.
